Here's a little more info about me... and more info is coming soon about my Bilateral Utricular Dysfunction, also known as Mal de Debarquement Syndrome (even though I didn't get it from a cruise or a boat, I feel like I am on one 24/7)!

Nicknames:  Mere, "Little Garris" or "Lil G"

Hobbies:  Even though I am around music all day long at WORG, I can't get enough!   I enjoy all types of music!  I love going to concerts. My favorites that I have been to include *N SYNC, Justin Timberlake & Christina Aguilera, Billy Joel & Elton John, and Jessica Simpson & Ryan Cabrera.  Some others - Backstreet Boys, Faith Hill & Tim McGraw, John Cougar Mellencamp, The Eagles, Hootie and the Blowfish, Britney Spears, Jimmy Buffett, and the American Idols from season 3.  I also have to mention how great Edwin McCain, the Bryson Jennings Band, and I Nine were at Stevenson Auditorium in our hometown concerts!

I am a huge fan of college sports, especially football and basketball.  On Saturdays during the fall, you'll find me in Death Valley...and even in Williams Brice!  I was raised as a Gamecock, but graduated as a Tiger!

I love volunteering in the community.  I serve on several boards and committees throughout town, including Relay For Life, DORA, Junior Service League, Wellness Celebration, OPTP, St. Paul's United Methodist Church, +RMC, and others.  Unfortunately, due to my newly diagnosed inner ear disorder, my ability to volunteer has pretty much been ceased, and I miss interacting with others in the community very much. 

My most memorable experience at WORG?  Broadcasting via candlelight during the Ice Storm of January 2004.  It was cold but so much fun! Interviewing John Tesh was pretty exciting too!  Introducing Edwin McCain at Stevenson was pretty cool too!

How did I get into radio?  That's easy - it's in my blood!  My dad had me singing Christmas songs on the radio when I was 2 years old!  I've been behind the microphone ever since. 

Education.  I am a graduate of Clemson University.  In December of 2003, I received my Master of Education in counselor education with emphasis in student affairs administration in higher education - meaning I can work at a college or university with students outside of the classroom. I also have a BA in speech & communication studies with a minor in advertising and a BS in marketing from Clemson.  Can you tell that I loved college?  I miss my Clemson Family, but it's nice to be back in Orangeburg!
